Biblical language, Hebrew, Phoenician, linguistics, ancient language, ancient alphabets

The ancient Phoenician alphabet was the precursor to most of the modern alphabets used by peoples of the Western world.  Sometime during the last 2000 years, an understanding of the original Phoenician letters' meanings was lost. Initially, readers of Phoenician understood each letter's assigned set of meanings; consequently, readers could gain a general understanding of an unknown word's meaning based on the letters used to form the 3-consonant root of the word.  This system of creating, writing and decoding words carried over into Biblical Hebrew.  These 3-letter roots are called the
shoresh in Hebrew (plural form is shoreshim). The shoresh forms the word root or word stem of most Biblical Hebrew words.

After more than a year of research and tedious effort towards recovering the pictographical alphabet code of the ancient Phoenician and Hebrew writers, author J. Steven Babbit now offers readers an amazing look into the word-pictures found within the ancient Hebrew Scriptures, known as the Old Testament to Christians and as the Tanach to Jewish Biblical students.  Whether you are a skilled reader of Biblical Hebrew or a novice student unfamiliar with the Hebrew language, you will easily be able to learn and understand how the pictographical word pictures of the Phoenician and Hebrew alphabets give full-color meanings to Biblical Hebrew words, including many difficult words which up until now have been nearly impossible to translate using contextual clues alone.

One chapter is dedicated to each Hebrew letter and its meaning set.  The pictographs of the original Phoenician letters are shown and explained in detail.  Each chapter has an extensive chart of Hebrew words which extensively shows how the system applies.  All words are shown in Hebrew, with English transliteration and definitions.  Anyone interested in the origins of language and Biblical studies can follow and benefit from the explanations of how the ancient letters formed detailed word pictures.
